Post-event feedback collection and analysis
You’ve finished another event, you want to pop your feet up and make a cup of tea but you realise your work isn’t done quite yet… although it’s not always thought about, collecting detailed post event feedback can be incredibly useful to gain invaluable insights for future events. We’ve put together some insightful tips on gathering attendee opinions, and making sure you turn feedback into actionable differences.
Firstly it’s best to act fast whilst the experience is fresh in attendees minds. You could send a short satisfaction survey where guests are asked to rate aspects such as venue, food, programming and overall enjoyment. You could also offer open response questions asking for more details that people have the option to answer. If you offer an incentive or ask people to complete the survey before they leave the venue this will also attract more responses.
After sending the initial surveys, you can then dig deeper with a more comprehensive survey. Look for feedback on topics such as content relevance, speaker quality, networking opportunities and areas for improvement.
As well as surveys you can also receive feedback via other areas such as social media. Research event hashtags, posts or stories from guests to find real time and honest feedback. You could then reach out for clarification or to even use guests reviews for your portfolio for future events.
Once you receive your feedback it is important to use the data to create insights. Identify what worked well and target areas you may have missed, then present statistics in an easy to understand report that can be used to help create and understand future events and planning.
Comprehensive post-event feedback provides a great insight into how your event went and what attendees really thought. Make sure you listen carefully to feedback and effectively use it by analysing the data and use it to implement changes for future events!
